Chi-Yuan Chen 陳麒元

Taiwanese violist Chi-Yuan Chen holds the Karen and Warren Kessler Chair as Principal Viola of San Diego Symphony.  Top-prize winner of both the 2000 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and the 2004 International Paris Viola Competition Ville d’Avray, Mr. Chen is recognized as one of the leading violists from his generation. A founding member of the Great Wall String Quartet, Mr. Chen has toured and taught extensively in Asian countries, and has won several recording awards including “the Best Performance in Classical Music” in the 24th Golden Melody Award in Taiwan and “the Best String Quartet Recording” in the 11th HiFi Album Awards in China.

 

Chi-Yuan Chen plays on a Gasparo Bertolotti da Salo viola c.1580, which is on a generous lifelong loan made available to him by an anonymous sponsor.

美國聖地亞哥交響樂團(San Diego Symphony Orchestra)中提琴終身首席及聖地亞哥州立大學(San Diego State University)駐校藝術家。中提琴家陳麒元以其傑出的音樂天分及與眾不同的音樂詮釋,於國際間有著甚高的藝術評價。臺灣第24屆金曲奬之最佳演奏獎得主,陳氏也同時為2000年美國Fischoff室內樂比賽及2004年法國巴黎國際中提琴大賽之獲獎者。
